Selection Criteria
  • Children of active duty police officers with the East Hartford, South Windsor, or Hartford Police Departments, as of January 1st of the scholarship award year
  • Pursuing any college level degree
  • First time applicants must have a minimum C average or 2.0 GPA in the last marking period. Renewal applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

About This Scholarship

Brian Aselton graduated from the criminal justice program at Manchester Community College and achieved his dream of becoming an East Hartford police officer in 1997.  On January 23, 1999, Brian was killed in the line of duty at the age of 26.  Brian believed that young people further themselves and society through education, and so his family started this fund to provide scholarships to children of active duty police officers in East Hartford, South Windsor, and Hartford and for students in the criminal justice program at Manchester Community College.
